Irina Nuzova is a native of Moscow, Russia, where she studied at the Gnessin School and the Gnessin Academy of Music with the renowned Alexander Satz. She moved to the U.S. to continue her studies at the Manhattan School of Music and Juilliard under Lev Natochenny, Jerome Lowenthal, and Oxana Yablonskaya. She earned her Doctorate of Musical Arts from the Hartt School of Music in Hartford, CT.
Ms. Nuzova took prizes at various solo and chamber music competitions including V. Bellini, Città di Senigallia, V. Gui, Premio Triò di Trieste in Italy; Beethoven and YCA competitions in the US. As a soloist and chamber musician, she has performed across the U.S. including the Phillips Collection in Washington DC, Gardner Museum in Boston, Weill and Merkin recital Halls in New York, the Schubert Club in St. Paul, Rhode Island Chamber Concert Series, as well as in Italy, Brazil, Czech Republic, Germany. In collaboration with cellist Wendy Warner, the duo released their debut recording, Russian Music for Cello & Piano. It has been featured on over 100 radio stations and nominated for best chamber music recording by ICMS.
She has performed and given Master Classes at the University of North Dakota, the Music Institute of Chicago, Ball State in Indiana, Amory University, and the Schwob School of Music in Georgia.
Her collaborations include Aviv and Attacca string quartets, Calefax reed quintet ( Netherlands), violinists Sirus Forough and Dmitry Berlinsky; violists Yuri Gandelsman and Marc Sabah, cellists Ani Aznavoorian, Sofie Shao, Julie Albers, and Wendy Warner.
She is currently on the faculty of the Special Music School at the Kaufman Center in New York, she served as an adjunct professor at the Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford, CT.
During the summer Irina Nuzova has been teaching and performing at the Olympus Musicus Festival in Prague, Rondo Summer Academy in Switzerland; the Clazz International Festival in Italy, the Summit Festival in Purchase, NY; Musica Festival in Perugia, Italy.
In collaboration with violinist Dmitri Berlinsky Ms. Nuzova is a founder and artistic director of the Juventus Pro Musica chamber music series for young musicians.
