Born in 1971,violist Simonide Braconi studied in Rome and in Freiburg (Germany), studying with Prof. S.Esposito and K.Kashkashian.
He continued his training under the guidance of Y.Bashmet and B.Giuranna. Winner of several competitions, awarded prizes at the Lionel Tertis Competition and the Kulturkreis der deutschen Wirtschaft in Koln.
As a soloist and chamber musician he has recorded for Vigiesse, Thymallus, Agorà, Tudor, Dad, Rhona, Stradivarius, Dynamic, Decca, Fonè for Italian Radio3, and Sky Classica.
Mr.Braconi served as principal viola in the Orchestre des Jeunes de la Mediterranée, then member of the European Community Youth Orchestra (ECYO), in 1994 he was selected by M. Riccardo Muti as principal viola soloist at the Teatro alla Scala and for the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala of Milan. Later he was invited to play in the Berliner Philarmoniker Orchestra.
Together with other section's leaders of the orchestra, he founded the Quartetto d' archi della Scala. Mr.Braconi is frequently invited as member of jury for international competitions (Geneva) and regularly holds masterclasses and concerts at important festivals (Accademia “Perosi” in Biella, Festival delle citta’ in Portogruaro, Gubbio Festival). He currently teaches viola at the Milano Music Master. He performed with musicians such as J. Rachlin, I. Faust, P. Vernikov, T. Brandis, A. Sitzkovesky, U.Ughi, M. Quarta, S. Accardo, E. Dindo, N. Gutman, I. Golan, J.Carreras, E.Pahud, and M.Argerich. Mr.Braconi also plays viola d’amore and composes: his works are published by Sonzogno and performed at the teatro alla Scala of Milan and Philarmonie of Berlin.
Among the most notable appearances are his performance with the Orchestra Filarmonica della Scala under the conducting of M. W. Sawallisch and Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante with M. Riccardo Muti and the orchestra Cherubini.
